NETFUND's work is organized around three interconnected thematic areas designed to deliver environmental impact at scale.
Climate Change
NETFUND mobilizes, avails and manages resources to advance the attainment of Kenya's Nationally Determined Contribution (NDCs), the National Climate Change Action Plan, the Kenya Green Economy Strategy and Implementation Plan, and SDG 13 on Climate Action.
We mobilise resources to support climate change interventions that promote:
- Kenya's transition to green economy
- Climate change mitigation actions
- Climate change adaptation actions
- Clean technological solutions
- Capacity of national and sub-national actors to access climate finance
- Research to inform climate change policy and programming
Pollution Control & Promoting Circular Economy
We mobilize, avail and manage resources to accelerate Kenya's transition from a linear to a circular economy by supporting interventions that address pollution control and waste management — especially solid waste, liquid waste and air quality.
We mobilise resources to support pollution control interventions that promote:
- Kenya's transition to a circular economy
- Local innovations on pollution control
- Research on pollution control and waste management
- Local capacity on pollution control and waste management
- Investment along the waste management value chain
Biodiversity and Ecosystems Protection and Restoration
NETFUND mobilizes resources for restoration and protection of degraded ecosystems including forests, river lines, lake basins, marine, wetlands and rangelands.
We mobilise resources to support biodiversity and ecosystems interventions that promote:
- Attainment of the national target of 30% Tree Cover
- Sustainable management of ecosystems in Kenya
- Nature-based solutions
- Uptake of technologies and innovations that enhance efficient utilization and sustainable management of natural resources in Kenya
- Research on health status and economic value of critical ecosystems in Kenya to inform policy, planning and programming
